Ramiz Mirishli worked as the art adviser at the Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Company named after Fikrat Amirov for a long time. He has written suites for this ensemble and dances, songs, choreographic pictures, plays for Song and Dance ensemble “My Chickens.” These plays have sounded in abroad and have been met with applause many times. Ramiz Mirishli has been the head and member of Board of Jury at musical competitions.
In 1982 Ramiz Mirishli was awarded with the name of Honour Art Figure of the Azerbaijan Republic.
And the composer won the prize for the ballade “Nasimi” which was devoted to the six hundred jubilees of the greatest poet Nasimi and a song “Oath of Soldier” which was devoted to ending of the Second World War.
Ramiz Mirishli addressed to stage genre in his activity too. In 1983 staged his musical comedy “Escaped Girl” at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theatre named after Shichali Qurbanov. Successfully, but his second operetta “Let’s be Relative” hadn’t staged yet.
Ramiz Mirishli has written the music to the films directed by Arif Babayev’s “An Apple Looks like The Apple”, by Tofiq Tagizade’s “There is a Man At Home”, by Elkhan Qasimov’s “Old Ferry-Boat”, by Shahmar Alekperov’s “A Night Without Desert” and the documentary film about Nakhchevan A.R., “Suleyman Rustam”, “Capable Hands”, “Tofiq Mutallibov” and the cartoon films “Lady Tiq-Tiq”, “I Seek a Friend”, “Hedgehog And An Apple ”, and etc. which are children’s lovely films. The songs sounding in cartoon films had performed on the piano by Vaqif Mustafazadeh, who is the founder of jazz music in Azerbaijan. And some songs of Ramiz Mirishli had been worked by Vaqif Mustafazadeh at jazz manner and had included to his slab, which is left as a keepsake for the people.
Ramiz Mirishli held the creative work connection with different theatres of our Republic. They are the theatres of Baku, Nakhchevan, Ganja, Sumqayit, Lankaran, Shaki, Mingachevir, Khankendi, Agdam. He has written music to more than forty performances up to day.
Ramiz Mirishli has written three cantatas in the vocal music genre with the names “Land Of Flames”, “Native Land”, “You Are the Loftiest Motherland” and four suites for chair and ode “Heart Burning as a Torch”
Ramiz Mirishli is a composer, who loves his motherland Azerbaijan. That is why, he glorified his native country many times in his songs. He has many popular songs on this theme. “Azerbaijan, My World”, “Nights of Baku”, “Tune of Nakhechevan”, “My Araz”, “You Are My Motherland”, “Girls’ Spring” and etc. The composer also addressed to the themes about nature of Azerbaijan, heroes of labour, the mothers, the youths, the children in his songs. But, his many lyrical songs he has written about love. He wrote the songs to the text of different poets, who feel the specific feature of song genre. They are Huseyn Gavid, Mammad Araz, Fikrat Qoja, Islam Safarli, Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, Suleyman Rustam, Rafiq Zaka, Nariman Hasanzadeh, Mammad Aslan, Dilsuz Mustafayev, Vaqif Mammadov, Vuqar Ahmed and etc. His popular songs are “She Quarrel With Me”, “Speak From You”, “I Am Your Pride”, “Happiness”, “Sing, Tar”, “I Had Hurt One”, “Life, Tell Me Whom Are You Belong”, “The Waves”, “Open My Violet Open”, “To Live is Beautiful”, “Blue World”, “Song About Soldier” and etc.
Generally, Ramiz Mirishli addressed to the theme of religion, Islamism for last years many times. To my mind, this is his vital look, positive, attitude to worth of Islam. He wrote the songs “Great God” to F.Qoja’s words, “My God” to the B.Vahabzadeh’s words, and “Prophet” to Nizami Ganjavi’s words. Customs Committee of Azerbaijan publishes the journal by name “Rescued Masterpieces” in Azerbaijan and English. In the second volume of this journal (in 2000) compact disk dedicated to Muhammad Prophet musical poetic play by Ramiz Mirishli is enclosed. He has written this interesting play to one part (“Praise Of Prophet”) of poem “Hosrov and Shirin” by genius poet Nizami Ganjavi.
And for the first time the unforgettable and popular singers of Azerbaijan performed his songs. They are Shovkat Alekperova, Zeynab Khanlarova, Ilhama Quliyeva, Flora Karimova, Yashar Safarov, Elmira Rahimova, Zaur Rzayev, Azar Zeynalov, Brilliant Dadashova, Nazperi Dostaliyeva, Aygun Kazimova, Konul Kazimova and etc.
The songs of Ramiz Mirishli are not only sympathizing among Azerbaijan singers, but also they are performed abroad – in Iran, Turkey, and Arabian countries too. The well-known Turkish singers – Ajda Pekkan, Nasha Karabogak, Fateh Kisabarmak sing his songs with pleasure. It is interesting that, he finds a way to world area and Ramiz Mirishli gets orders from different counties for writing songs of this genre.
Generally, this genre of songs is popular among the people and because of its high artistic-aesthetic power is easily memorized. I am sorry that, the song genre takes crisis in Azerbaijan lately. So, the songs by professional and amateurs composers are too more, but qualitative examples are very few. That is why, this moral poverty period in the song genre we must appreciate and value of such composers as Ramiz Mirishli.
In, short, Ramiz Mirishli uses skillfully the national elements, the principle of change of modes in all his works. And the songs written by Ramiz Mirishli, which our people like is crown of his creative work. His songs have stimulated to development of vocal music and mass song’s genre in Azerbaijan.
Ramiz Mirishli connects his composer work with his pedagogical profession. He works at the Chair of National Musical Instruments in Conservatoire for long years and brought up some graduates. Some of them, including famous kamancha players Shafiqa Eyvazova, Agajabrayil Abbasaliyev, Fahraddin Dadashov, Arif Quliyev, Adalet Vazirov (the late). They work in the chair together with Ramiz Mirishli.
Composer, teacher and public musical figure Ramiz Mirishli was elected the member of Board of Directors at the congress of the Union of the Composers.
In 1990 Ramiz Mirishli was awarded with the name National Artist of Azerbaijan Republic because of his disinterested work. Well-known Azerbaijan Composer, Professor Arif Malikov has written about Ramiz Mirishli “He is composer who has high phenomenal talent.”
Ramiz Mirishli’s sons Nazim and Yusif are the suitable composers following his profession. Yusif studied at Arif Malikov’s composer class. He writes many plays and including two symphonies. Nazim finished the Conservatoire Govdat Hajiyyev’s class. In 1990 he studied at the modern music courses in Darmshtat city in Germany. He is the author of symphony “Ceremony”, plays for organ, music to the cinema “Bat” and “Qazalkhan” with father Ramiz Mirishli.
The composer Ramiz Mirishli lives through his seventy first spring of his creative perfect period. In connection with his seventy years he was awarded by order of “Glory”. There are many plays which he must write, perform and stage on his creative plan. Each his song is an invaluable present for our mass song genre. Let’s wish to this beloved simple-hearted, well-wisher man too more achievement in his activity as a composer, a teacher and a public figure.
